Syracuse Football nabs 20th recruit in 2026 class

If it seems like everyday, Syracuse Football is grabbing a new recruit, you wouldn’t be that far off.

Fran Brown and his recruiting team have been on a hot streak lately, and the result means that now 20 players are coming to Syracuse as part of the 2026 class.

The 20th member? Zikhere Leaks. The three-star athlete announced on Tuesday that he is committed to SU as the latest recruit. A two-sport athlete who also runs track, Leaks is mainly a wide receiver who comes out of Pennsylvania.

In the past week, day-after-day there have been new commitments to SU. Three-star offensive lineman Brayden Charney committed last week. Three-star linebacker Gemaus Sackie (who wins best name award) committed a couple of days ago. And the Orange got commitments from three-star defensive lineman Kordae Houston and punter Jimmy Gregg in the past day.

Of all of those, Gregg may be the most exciting, coming to SU as the number one-ranked punter in the class. SU really may be Punter U.

So what does all of this mean? Well the official visits have been working. A lot of players have been making their visits just this past month, when there aren’t even students on campus, but are enjoying it enough to make the commitment.

It’s been a three-star frenzy for Syracuse in this class, which features incoming high school seniors. Of the 20 commits, 18 of them are three-stars. While it would be nice to see a few more higher rated-prospects committing to the 315, in today’s world, three-stars are a low risk, high reward.

They’re not likely to cost as much in NIL as the higher profiles players, and Fran Brown’s coaching staff has shown that they can really develop players of all skill levels. Now the only question that remains is who’s next
