The time for college coaches to contact Class of 2027 recruits has officially commenced. But that doesn’t mean that Fran Brown and co have moved on from the 2026s. And on Saturday, the Orange made ground with a big name in 2026 class.
Cameron Hairston-Taylor, a 247 composite three-star athlete, named his top five schools and the Orange have made the cut. Along with SU is Appalachian State, South Carolina, Louisville and Virgia Tech. Definitely an interesting mix of ACC, SEC and…Appalachian State?
Well Hairston-Taylor is from Virginia, so the North Carolina school may be more of a local pick. But let’s say the incoming high school senior does pick the 315. What could he bring to the Orange?
Well, as his position title (athlete) says, Hairston-Taylor can do a lot. On his X account, he lists himself as both a defensive back and wide receiver. And the two-way thing is something that Syracuse definitely seems to be open to under Fran Brown.
One thing that both of those positions need is speed. And Hairston-Taylor has shown in high school that he has a lot of it. He has won the state title in the 55 meter sprint and also is a long jumper, according to his X account.
Syracuse football and track have begun to have a lot of overlap over the psat year. So there’s another possible point of interest for Hairston-Taylor to come join the Orange.
SU has been aggressive thus far in their pursuit of Hairston-Taylor. The Orange were his first official visit earlier this month, meaning that SU was the first team that had the chance to woo him.
Of course, there’s still a lot of time for Hariston-Taylor to make his decision. There’s been hits and misses, but SU’s 2026 class is already ranked top 25, and this could be yet another splash.
