Four-star forward to visit Syracuse

While pretty much all the recruiting news in Syracuse recently has gone to the football team, Adrian Autry and co are ready to steal back some of the spotlight.

247sports reported Tuesday that four-star forward Asher Elson is set to take a visit to Syracuse from October 10-12. The power forward recently wrapped up his high school career in NYC, but has reclassified to 2026, playing in the Overtime Elite league.

The Orange, who will be one of the first teams to host Elson, would be striking the lottery if they could land him. Standing at 6-10, Elson’s size has been a disruptor on prep courts around the country. And now he’s going to be battle tested all year with Overtime Elite, a league that has hosted top talent for a few years now.

That being said, it’s not going to be an easy land for SU. Elson has continued to pick up big offers, including powerhouses Ole Miss and Maryland this month. But getting him on campus is big.

The timing is interesting. October is before the team will have started playing games and SU football is on a bye week. So, it’s not a gameday visit, but instead just showing off the program and campus.

If the Orange can get him back for another in-season visit, that would be a very positive sign.

The power forward position is one that Syracuse will be honing in on for the 2026-27 season, depending on how a couple of their current stars play this season. The two forwards who play in the four spot are Donnie Freeman and Sadiq White, two young stars who could very well depart for the NBA after this spring.

Should that happen, there would be a huge hole to fill, and Elson would be a perfect fit.
