Fran Brown Competing With Top Coaches

Aside from the on-field success that Fran Brown and company have experienced when it comes to Syracuse football, the Orange have been competing with other football programs around the country to secure top-level talent.

Brown’s name is now in the mix with coaches like Deion Sanders for top talent four or five star players that he’d like to play for Syracuse. In addition, Syracuse is now somewhat in the mix of some of these top prospects final lists.

For example, three-star offensive lineman Xavier Payne decommitted to Florida State after official visits to other schools, and has narrowed his list to Syracuse and Colorado.

Whether Brown seals the deal or not remains to be seen, but all of this is an encouraging sign to see going forward, and it could create some exciting movement for what’s ahead for Syracuse.

This type of recognition across the country didn’t happen three or four years ago with Dino Babers at the helm. John Wildhack gave Brown the reins since he took over ahead of last season, and it has more than paid off already. Granted, it’s only been one successful season so far for Syraucuse, but it at least builds excitement in the area and gives Orange fans a reason to look forward to what’s to come.

This upcoming football season could very well be different than this past year for Syracuse depending on the emergent of some of the younger guys. There is no Kyle McCord to carry SU, but the fact that Brown is recruiting many players or coming up just short to big time schools, shows that SU is right there with the top dogs in the country.
