Penn State was ranked the second best team in the country ahead of the 2025 season. After a 3-3 start, longtime head coach James Franklin was fired, and Syracuse’s Fran Brown emerged as a popular candidate to take over.
He’s not going anywhere…. or at least that’s what he says.
Coach Brown has become a hot target ahead of the next hiring cycle after leading the Orange to their first 10 win season since 2018. Despite this, he’s been quick to dispel any rumors about packing up and leaving. As a matter of fact, Syracuse’s head coach wasn’t happy when asked about the possibility of taking a bigger job elsewhere.
“I’m working at Syracuse right now, so I don’t really need to talk about that. If this wasn’t where I wanted to be right at the moment, would I be standing here at this moment?”
Brown added that he thought it was disrespectful to even bring up the question.
We’ll have to wait and see if Fran Brown actually makes himself available to other programs in the near future. However, at least for the time being, he’s made it clear that he’s sticking with the Orange.
