Boeheim Throws Heat

Jim Boeheim made it out to Alliance Bank Stadium for Father’s Day, throwing out the pitch on Prostate Cancer Awareness Day.

Before we get down to¬†Fizzness this morning, it’s time to pay homage to the blogfather.

D.A. turned 30 yesterday, a major milestone for our main man.

Two weeks ago, D.A. reminisced about his first 29 years in the Fizz-Cast.

From the rest of¬†Team Fizz, you’ve accomplished some major milestones: sports director at WAER, play-by-play for a national championship lacrosse team and even interviewed a couple porn stars in your day.

To the wires, it’s high school graduation season, which in basketball recruiting terms means “time for golf” if you’re a coach (save for Tim Floyd, who can now do that year round.)

However, there is one coaching great willing to go out and sacrifice his handicap in the name of a good cause.

Jim Boeheim made it out to Alliance Bank Stadium for Father’s Day, throwing out the pitch on Prostate Cancer Awareness Day.

Boeheim threw what he called a slider. Others saw a two-seam fastball. The Fizz saw catcher John Poppert get crossed up, but that’s just a chemistry issue between them.

It definitely had some bite to it and decent velocity. And while¬†The Fizzdidn’t see Doug Marrone’s first pitch down in Scranton, we’re sure it would be a duel between the two for top gun spots if there were ever an intramural softball team.

Speaking of Marrone, as The Fizz mentioned on Friday, our friends at Nunesmagician has made his life a bit easier.

The ‘Cuse has more than 120 offers out there.

First come, first serve? Sounds like a good pitch to The Fizz.

The Fizz is owned, edited and operated by Damon Amendolara. D.A. is an ’01 Syracuse graduate from the Newhouse School with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
