Media Day Post Game Show

Ater D.A. and Ted spent the day gorging on lobster and chatting up sharply dressed football players and coaches in Little Rhodey, it’s time to take a look into what was said what we should take away.

Side Note: Why is it called Little Rhodey? There’s no Big Rhodey. It’s not even an island. If anyone can explain that, please let me know in the comments section.

D.A. had a sitdown chat with Doug Marrone to talk about the progress he’s made through his first year and about the upcoming season. As always, Marrone was very candid and open about his program:

“We sit down and talk about goals. Our goal as a football team is to go to a bowl game. We haven’t gone to a bowl game in quite some time now and that’s really the next step. Which one it is Рit really doesn’t matter. We need to get to a bowl game and that’s important for our program.”

The team’s punter (and arguably best player) has joined in on the media fun and is now on Twitter. (Yes, he’s following the Fizz.)

Marrone also said that when taking players to media day, he starts with his senior class and takes his best leaders. The Fizz caught up with all four guys who were there – Ryan Bartholomew, Mike Holmes, Derrell Smith, and Long – and we’ll post them daily as we march towards the opener.

As for the quarterback spot, it’s Ryan Nassib’s to lose at this point.

“He’s come a long way. He went through some adversity last year. Obviously being named the starter, then Greg comes in and he wins the starting job.”

The Fizz will be at Manley Field House for summer camp as the calendar moves ever closer to September 4th.

Coming tomorrow on the Fizz: Schiano on the Florida recruiting battles with Syracuse.
