It turns out, Syracuse’s success in West Virginia may not have ended at Mountaineer Field.
While the Orange is beginning to stockpile lineman, as they did with Rob Trudo and now Kristofer Curtis, there is another spot that needs to be filled for next year Рrunning back.
There just so happens to be certain highly-recruited ball-carrier who hails from the Appalachian Hills, and his name is Allan Wasonga.
From West Virginia, Wasonga has offers from his hometown schools Marshall and West Virginia, as well as Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and Penn State.
Side note: Can we just discount Derek Dooley and the Vols from recruiting battles for the rest of 2010? Any coach who attempts to¬†compare a team to the Nazis battling in Normandy is just losing his mind. It’s that simple. Forfeit.
There are some big names on that list, but don’t forget, the Orange is second in the Big East right now. Contention can bode well for your chances of landing a big fish.
There’s also the possibility of immediate playing time. Wasonga says he’d like a place where can play right away.
However, he’s looking for big-time offers from schools he has visited, like Virginia Tech, and Michigan.
Wasonga is a 5’8 back weighing in just under 200 pounds, and, like the other top flight back Syracuse is recruiting, has a high GPA (3.5).
We’ve talked about how Adonis Ameen-Moore wasn’t tilted off the ‘Cuse, despite witnessing a brutal spectacle. Hopefully, Wasonga is impressed by SU’s resurgence as well, and sees the Orange as a team he can get behind.
