You snooze, you lose. That’s what Brooklyn star and Syracuse recruit Wayne ‚ÄúLights Out‚Äù Morgan would say to Penn State. With National Signing Day just 5 days away, brand new head coach Bill O‚ÄôBrien has made a late push for the 4-star defensive back. Morgan was as shocked as anyone the Nittany Lions joined the race so late, but he relayed good news to The Fizz.
“I’m not really looking into it because it is too late. This was unexpected.”
Whew. PSU actually has not even offered Morgan, but will heavily pursue the Erasmus Hall product until Wednesday. The senior also has no plans to cram in a visit to State College this weekend. Penn State is a day late and a dollar short, and the speedy DB says he’s not considering a late switch.
“It’s just between Syracuse and UConn.”
Morgan admitted he had garnered a lot of attention from PSU as a sophomore, but until this week had heard absolutely nothing from the program. Bottom line, Wednesday Wayne will choose between two hats.

Morgan visited UConn last weekend. He spent one-on-one time with the Husky coaches, and toured the campus. Overall, WM had a positive experience.
“It went good, I enjoyed myself. I enjoyed looking around the campus because I never really got the chance to see it before.”
Wayne once told The Fizz Doug Marrone is “a real coach” and is still¬†very high on DM, as well as Paul¬†Pasqualoni. He likes the old-school approach both coaches bring, but hopefully Marrone has a leg up in this battle. After a¬†fantastic visit to Syracuse in December, Morgan did not seem too amped about his trip to Storrs (then again, it’s Storrs). SU has made it a priority to keep elite talent in-state, and Morgan represents exactly that.

The Orange trump card might just be a childhood friendship. Morgan is clawing at the chance to play with his boy Brandon Reddish, who helped him assimilate into the program smoothly during his official visit. ‚ÄúNew York‚Äôs College Team‚Äù needs to grab New York City’s best. It’s also good to know WM is high on academics.
“It’s great to know that both the football and basketball teams are such great programs, and that Syracuse has one of the best Sport Management programs. It’s good all around.”
You have to like that Morgan already has his intended major figured out. He’s absolutely stoked for Wednesday, and will be making his decision at Erasmus. The Orange likes its chances of reeling in “Lights Out.” He’s been paying attention to the¬†recent defensive pickups over the past few weeks.¬†He says he would love to play with some of the talented recruits like Josh Manley, Zian Jones and Mark Garrick, SU brought in to flesh out its D.
Wayne won’t rank one school in front of the other. He likes to keep us on our toes. But signs seem to point to Brooklyn being colored orange Wednesday.
