Earlier this week, Syracuse fans had reason to smile (and that hasn’t come easily in the last few months). 2016 basketball recruit Matthew Moyer chirped at his international competition and seems to be solid on Syracuse. The 44th-best player in his class, Moyer¬†just returned from Italy after playing in a junior world championships tourney, and Syracuse.com quoted his mother as saying he’s sticking by the Orange.
“His mother, Annette, said today by telephone that her son has told everybody who asks that he is sticking with Syracuse and has never considered backing out of his verbal commitment.
‘He is not decommitting,’ Annette Moyer said. ‘I’ve been very firm with people who have asked me about it.'”
We know that even though mom’s call is important, it’s not always 100% locked down (witness Thomas Bryant’s mom). But this is obviously a positive sign for SU.
On top of it, Moyer tweeted a picture of him dunking overseas with the caption, “I wish these Italians would try to jump with me.” Gotta like the confidence. Moyer can’t wait for his chance to slam on Andrea Bargnani. Which will probably happen one day, since everyone dunks on Bargnani.
