Fizz in Indy: Day 4 “Calm Before the Storm”

What a win last night for Syracuse, the Orange survive and advance to play West Virginia tomorrow night at 5:15 inside Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. I’ll be there providing coverage throughout on Twitter, a post-game reaction, and FizzCast with Gill Gross. Gill and I also recorded a WVU purview Fizz Cast earlier today, make sure to give that a listen as well:

Last night was an incredible experience for me. Being one of very few able to watch that game live was s surreal experience, and getting to interact with all the fans on Twitter was great as always. I’m pumped that I’m able to do it all again tomorrow night.

Today’s been another day of watching college basketball for me, as I’m sure it’s been for all of you. The biggest storyline of the day has been VCU’s removal from the tournament due to COVID-19 protocol. We’ve since found out they have multiple positive tests within the program. You got to feel for those athletes and coaches that had their hearts ripped out just hours before they’d play in the biggest game of their lives.

It’s even worse because VCU was a really solid team that had a chance to make a run. Otherwise, Creighton over UCSB 63-62 was the exciting ending of the day. The Gauchos, a team that had a lot of potential, just couldn’t quite close the game against the Blue Jays. A tough ending for them and tough for the millions who probably picked that upset.

This Syracuse game tomorrow should be a pretty exciting one. Two old big east foes matchup a part of new conferences and two legendary coaches battle it out for a shot at the Sweet 16. Syracuse played better last night than they did all year, that’s great news. They’ve gotten hot right when it’s mattered and hope they can ride their momentum forward.

Both Coach Boeheim and Buddy Boeheim had some great quotes in last night’s press conference. The hall-of-famer expressed his respect for the incoming opponent:

Buddy gave some pretty good detail to his relationship with Assistant Coach and former SU Basketball superstar, Gerry McNamara:

I’ll have you covered tomorrow night through the game and after the game. The Orange tip-off against the Mountaineers at 5:15 P.M. inside Banker’s Life Fieldhouse.
