It’s been a rather quiet offseason for Syracuse football. Perhaps it should be that way considering SU has made one bowl game in six years under Dino Babers. The best way to turn the tide is through recruiting. The Orange got off to a nice start with their 2023 class by securing 3-star dual-threat quarterback LaNorris Sellers back in March. Since then though not a lot has happened. SU also has two commitments from unranked New York prospects Rashard Perry and David Clement.
In the mean time, the ‘Cuse has been setting itself up for a potentially massive commitment fest in the Summer. Several players have announced their plans to come to the Hill in June and perhaps things will finally start to pick uo then.
Here’s who we know is officially visiting and when:
June 17
UR Edge, Jalil Smith
Smith is unranked by all recruiting services and holds offers from SU, Bowling, Green, and Temple. The 6’5, 230 edge recruit plays at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York.
3-star LB, Zyian Moultrie-Goddard
This is a big visit for SU. Moultrie-Goddard is a serious New York talent and is one of just five juniors with a ranking. The linebacker is 6-2, 240 from New Rochelle, NY and holds big offers from Arizona State, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Syracuse was his first offer though so keep that in mind.
June 24
3-star QB Commit LaNorris Sellers
3-star IOL Eric King
June 24th is definitely the bigger of the two visit days for now. King would be a huge get for Syracuse on the offensive line. The New Jersey native stands 6-3, 300 and holds offers from Rutgers, Buffalo, and Liberty.
3-star Edge Antonio Camon
It’s fair to slap a “must get” label on Camon. The edge prospect hails from Florida where Babers and his staff have had a lot of previous success finding talent. Syracuse will be his fifth and final official visit in a busy June. Camon will also see Pittsburgh, Kansas, Iowa State, and Rutgers. Camon is a perfect fit for this defense with his 6-2, 250 frame and athleticism.
Syracuse definitely has some work do to on the trail with its 2023 cycle, but the Orange could make a lot of noise this Summer.
