Happy Holidays! Early National Signing Day is back and it’s always filled with fireworks. Syracuse Football has picked up its game on the recruiting front as of late and the Orange have momentum into NSD. As of right now, Dino Babers’ 2023 class ranks 83rd in the nation and dead last in the ACC, according to 247sports.com
Last year, the ‘Cuse made some noise on this day and added some surprise studs to its class. SU is looking to do the same this year, but also retain its committed prospects. This year’s version of NSD may not be so fun for Orange Nation. Here’s who’s committed for now:
Committed
QB – LaNorris Sellers
DL – Vincent Carroll-Jackson
ATH – Muwaffaq Parkman
OT – Jayden Bass
TE – David Clement
WR – Bryce Cohoon
Edge – Jalil Smith
LB – Zyian Moultrie-Goddard
OIL – J’onre Reed
OT – Lysander Moeolo
LB – Lonnie Rice
DL – Ty Gordon
Edge – Oluwademilade Omopariola
This is a very diverse class with skill position talent as well as trench players which the Orange need. In all there’s seven (7) offensive commits and seven (7) defensive commits with Parkman left out as an athlete who will probably end up on offense. Syracuse pulled the bulk of its talent from the northeast with four (4) commits from New York, two (2) from Pennsylvania, and one (1) from New Jersey.
The headliner of the group is 4-star quarterback LaNorris Sellers. The dual-threat quarterback received a massive boost in the rankings recently to earn recognition as a top 400 national prospect. The Florence, South Carolina native committed to SU back in March and hasn’t wavered in his pledge, until perhaps now.
Reports say that South Carolina has been making a hard push as of late to earn Sellers’ signature. Gamecocks Head Coach Shane Beamer recently tweeted something that may lead you to beleive that a flip is coming later this week.
Sellers plans to sign with a team tomorrow but not make public which team that is until Friday. The highly touted high school senior is the crown jewel of Syracuse’s 2023 cycle so this loss would really hurt.
What would sting even more is losing both your #1 and #2 committed players. There’s a real possibility that 3-star defensive lineman Vincent Carroll-Jackson flips his commitment from SU to Nebraska tomorrow.
The Pennsylvania native verbally pledged to the ‘Cuse just over a week ago but it appears as though his CNY commitment will be short lived. Tony White and the Cornhuskers have received several crystal ball predictions to land Carroll-Jackson’s signature come 3 p.m. tomorrow.
That’s all the news we have for now. Everybody else you see committed to Syracuse is expected to sign and affirm their respective decisions tomorrow. Perhaps the Orange can pull off some flips of their own too over the course of what should be a fun and action packed Thursday.
