Tony White Is Throwing Salt on Syracuse’s Wound

Syracuse Football recruiting has really picked up in the past week. The Orange have bolstered their 2023 class with some offensive and defensive line behemoths. The recent wave of commits is all fine and dandy but there are still bigger problems in the forefront.

SU still lost one of the best up and coming coaches in former Defensive Coordinator Tony White. The three-year leader of the ‘Cuse’s 3-3-5 defense is now running the show for Nebraska. In his place, the Orange made a solid hire bringing in a veteran coach in Rocky Long who literally created the defensive scheme White uses.

However, White has wasted no time throwing some salt in the wound here in the Salt City (pun intended). Class of 2023 three-star defensive lineman Vincent Carroll-Jackson has been committed to the ‘Cuse for about a week now.

Two crystal balls were lodged by a national recruiting analyst and Nebraska Football Insider on 247sports.com in favor of the Cornhuskers earning the signature of Carroll-Jackson. This would be a massive loss for SU because the Pennsylvania recruit is the #2 ranked commit in Syracuse’s class behind LaNorris Sellers.

There’s a possibility that Sellers flips to South Carolina on signing day. The Gamecocks have recruited the four-star quarterback recruit very hard in the past few months. Now, if White beats out Babers and Company and steals the ‘Cuse’s top defensive prospect, that would really hurt…

Stay tuned here, Carroll-Jackson announced his plans to sign on National Signing Day this upcoming Wednesday.
