In the ever-expanding 2025 class for Syracuse football, the Orange grabbed some wide receiver depth yesterday with the commitment of three-star wide receiver Gabe Daniels. The Georgia native becomes Syracuse’s third receiver commit in the 2024 class, joining Darien Williams and Julian McFadden.
It’s the latest recruiting win for Syracuse over other Power Four competitive teams. This time the top three for Daniels consisted of Syracuse, fellow ACC school NC State and Kansas.
Daniels’ commitment comes just about a month after he visited Syracuse May 31 to June 2. He received an offer from Syracuse on March 8, one of over 20 Division One offers that Daniels had.
One of the big things that a wide receiver needs is speed, and to say Daniels is fast would be an understatement. Just last month he won a state title in the 200 meter dash. He has run a 10.5 100 meter dash and 21.2 200 meter dash.
The rising senior had a solid junior campaign at Greater Atlanta Christian. He had 31 receptions and five touchdowns to go along with 700 all-purpose yards. The wide receiver starred both on the offensive side of things but also as a returner on special teams.
Daniels was a potential recruit for Georgia and took a gameday visit when Syracuse head coach Fran Brown was still with the Bulldogs. Tweets from last season show Daneils would tag Brown on highlight videos.
The 6-1, 190 receiver is currently a 247sports composite three-star, ranked as the 131st best wide receiver in the 2025 class.
In high school, Daniels has played on both sides of the ball. While as a junior he was primarily stationed as a wide receiver, he has gotten snaps at cornerback, especially during his sophomore year.
There will likely be a lot of competition at wide receiver when Daniels arrives at campus for the 2025 season. Zeed Haynes, Darrell Gill Jr., Umari Hatcher, Trebor Pena and Donovan Brown all will have remaining eligibility after this season.
SU now has 26 commitments for 2025, after losing two verbal commitments this past weekend due to academic issues.
Daniels has lots of pure upside with his speed, and that could very well translate to playing time with the Orange in the future.
