Michael Jordan to the Chicago Bulls

One of the most significant draft picks ever was Michael Jordan to the Chicago Bulls in 1984. Jordan was selected at number three in the draft and immediately became the leader of the team. With his incredible play, outstanding physical prowess and unprecedented determination Jordan brought Chicago to a new level.

In the 1990/91 season, the Bulls won the NBA title for the first time in their history, and then repeated in 1992 and 1993. The championship ‘triple-doubles’ went down in history as Jordan’s two ‘Triplets’. It made Jordan a legend and the greatest player of all time.

Acquisitions by the Boston Celtics

Another landmark event was the acquisition of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen by the Boston Celtics in 2007. With these acquisitions, the Celtics were able to create a formidable trio along with Paul Pierce, who was already starring for the team. Garnett, a powerful forward and one of the best defensive players in the league, perfectly complemented Pierce and Allen on offence. Allen, on the other hand, was considered one of the greatest sharpshooters in NBA history.

This constellation of stars immediately made Boston one of the favorites for the championship. And expectations were met. In their debut season, the chemistry of the trio allowed the Celtics to confidently win the 2008 Finals. It was the 17th championship title in franchise history and the first since 1986.

The Miami Heat assembled superstars

In the summer of 2010, one of the most high-profile events in NBA history took place. There was the coming together of three superstars on one team. The Miami Heat managed to get two elite basketball players LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

Dwayne Wade, who already played for the Heat and became a champion in 2006, was joined by two other super talents. LeBron was considered the best player on the planet at the time, and Bosh was one of the strongest forwards in the league.

The creation of this formidable trio was accompanied by a high-profile PR show. At the special ‘Decision’ event, James announced that he was joining Miami. This event was discussed by millions of fans around the world.

The association of three superstars made the Heat the undisputed favorites for the championship title. The fans’ expectations were fully justified. Already in their first season 2010/11 “Big Trio” reached the NBA Finals, and then won championships in 2012 and 2013.

These events will forever go down in basketball history as some of the most successful and significant. They changed the balance of power in the NBA, created new dynasties and gave fans unforgettable moments.
