In the second half of Louisville’s dismantling of the Syracuse defense last weekend, junior defensive back Antwan Cordy was knocked out for the remainder of the season with a forearm injury. On Sunday night, Cordy found out he’d be getting a medical redshirt and another year of eligibility.
I feel like this really God plan. Thank God For the medical redshirt. Two more years with Cuse instead of one üôèüèøüôèüèø

The redshirt is good news for Cordy, but it’s really just making the best out of a bad situation. Without Cordy, the Syracuse secondary is in even more trouble than we thought it would be. He was one of the rare upperclassmen in the Orange defense and had a full season of starting experience under his belt. The Orange is going to give up a lot of points this season, and at this point it’s looking like the offense will just have to be good enough to keep up if SU wants to win another game.
The good news is Cordy will be able to play two more years at SU, and as the young defensive backs grow he’ll be the one leading them. Long term, you’d probably prefer Cordy skip a season and really learn the Tampa-2 defense instead of wasting a year of eligibility in a big adjustment year for the team.
Cornerback Juwan Dowels was also injured during the Louisville game and will also miss the rest of the season, but Cordy said he isn’t worried about what’s to come for the duo.
