It’s playoff time for high school football programs all around the country. Several SU Football commits are still alive in their respective playoff races and one has even advanced to a state championship game.
Aaron Hackett: SU’s only 2017 tight end commit played a huge role to help Venice (FL) make their first regional championship game since 2003 over the weekend. Hackett caught two key passes to convert on two separate fourth downs in a 64-42 win over Braden River.
Ifeatu Melifonwu: Melifonwu led Grafton (MA) to a 26-13 win over Taconic Saturday. The running back rushed for 249 yards and a touchdown in the game. He also recorded an interception. With the win, Grafton advances to play Hanover for a state title at Gillette Stadium on December 3rd.
Cameron Jordan: Two weeks ago, the wide receiver commit caught four passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns to help Half Hollow Hills West (NY) defeat North Babylon 55-34. This past weekend Half Hollow Hills West beat West Islip to set up a Long Island playoff neutral site game against Garden City.
Dakota Davis: Davis’ Glenelg (MD) team knocked off River Hill 38-7 last Friday to win a regional title. Up next for Glenelg is a road state semifinal game.
Joshua Palmer: Palmer caught a touchdown pass in St. Thomas Aquinas’ (FL) 37-0 rout of Dwyer Friday. Following the state semifinal win, Aquinas’ next playoff game comes against Mater Academy this weekend.
Nadarius Fagan’s Miami Southridge team (FL), Zach Morton’s Detroit Cass Tech team (MI) and Sharrod Johnson’s Booker T. Washington team (FL) are all also still in their respective playoff races.
