Stunning Graphic Shows Syracuse Near Bottom of ACC in Revenue — Explains EVERYTHING

For years, Syracuse Orange athletics fans have viewed the school as one of the country’s premier brands.

Massive Dome crowds.
A slew of Final Fours and NBA lottery picks.
Legendary football stars and Pro Football Hall of Famers.
An extremely visible sports alumni base (broadcasters, athletes).

So this graphic is honestly pretty shocking.

According to reported FY2025 athletic department revenues, Syracuse ranks second-to-last in the ACC among schools listed at just $120.8 million.

Only the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are lower.

That’s a massive reality check.

Especially when Syracuse trails:

  • Boston College Eagles
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
  • Stanford Cardinal
  • Cal Bears
  • SMU Mustangs
  • Louisville Cardinals

Many of those schools are generating tens of millions more annually.

And suddenly, a LOT of recent Syracuse storylines make more sense. Why is NIL such a pressing issue? Why is there such concern about the payroll available to Gerry McNamara?

Why was Bryan Blair’s revenue-generation such a massive factor? Why is Syracuse outsourcing exhibition games in basketball?

Why did Syracuse bring in Greg Fahey — a GM who openly talks NIL infrastructure more than traditional recruiting?

Because these are the harsh realities. The numbers are staring everyone in the face.

Syracuse is trying to compete in a financial arms race while operating at the bottom of the ACC.

This is tough for a fanbase raised on Final Fours, packed Dome crowds, and national relevance.

And it also explains why the school is suddenly making decisions that feel unusual like not playing at the Dome to save money, regional scheduling to reduce travel costs, restructuring the NIL avenues, and donor-focused leadership hires.

This is a program trying to modernize immediately.

It’s hard to believe in a league that is not full of financial heavyweights like the Big Ten and SEC Syracuse could still rank so low.
