In what is expected to be an extremely busy weekend in the basketball recruiting world, the first commitment did not go Syracuse’s way. Five star power forward Billy Preston committed to Kansas over Syracuse and USC. This weekend, several big-time Syracuse targets are expected to make their announcements. Five star guard Quade Green is set to make his announcement Saturday at 8 PM.
Green has reportedly already signed his National Letter of Intent, locking him into his college choice. He narrowed his list down to five, including Syracuse, Duke, Kentucky, Villanova and Temple but by every indication it is really between Syracuse and Kentucky.
A target closely linked with Green is Hamidou Diallo who a five star shooting guard and the 10th overall prospect in the 2017 cycle, according to 247 Sports. Diallo has not set a timetable for his decision but many have speculated that he will follow Green. Diallo is considering Syracuse, Kentucky and UConn and if Syracuse can somehow land him, that would be an absolutely massive get for the Orange.
Syracuse may get a commit before the weekend is out, even if Green decides to go to Lexington. Bourama Sidibe, a three star power forward from New Jersey is set to make his decision on Monday, and Syracuse is the clear favorite. Syracuse has already landed a three star forward in this cycle after OShae Brissett picked the Orange on Saturday.
Syracuse would like nothing more than to land big-time guard but only time will tell. Needless to say, this weekend will have a significant impact, one way or the other, on the Syracuse team for next season.
