Once the Western Michigan coaching change occurred, Syracuse’s recruitment of former Bronco commit Chris Elmore heated up. The defensive lineman is currently on his official visit to SU and he’s liked it so much he decided to commit.

“This was an opportunity I was not passing up on,” Elmore told the Fizz after he announced his decision.
The Illinois native a three star defensive tackle, per 247Sports.com. In addition to Syracuse, he also received serious interest from Western Michigan (even after the decommitment) and Minnesota, PJ Fleck’s new destination.
The SU coaching staff sees potential for Elmore to play h-back, per Scout.com. That would entail lining up at the fullback or tight end spot. He’s a two-way recruit.
Elmore’s pledge brings Syracuse’s 2017 class to 21 members. The remaining high school players with SU interest are Illinois offensive lineman Alex Palczewski, Illinois defensive lineman, John Mitchell and Ohio safety Keontae Jones.
