Preseason is all about predictions.
Who is on the team, what they are capable of individually and what they will do together over the course of a season.
With just 81 days until the first game of 2017 (but who’s counting?), various outlets are ranking players based on preseason projections. Lindy’s is the latest national college football preview magazine to give its opinion.

Ervin Philips received second-team Preseason All-ACC accolades while Zaire Franklin and Sterling Hofrichter were named to the third-team Preseason All-ACC team.
Having players named to these teams does not bean that the Orange is suddenly projected to be a top tier team. Yet, it doesn’t mean Syracuse will only play at the second-team or third-team level either.
These are individual rankings, and what they do not take into consideration is how each player will perform on the field along with with 10 other guys. But, clearly, each of them has earned his right onto these lists with his skilled performance last year and so far this offseason.
So give each of them congratulations, but don’t turn off the TV now. Things might look one way on paper but turn out differently — for good or for bad. That’s why we play the game.
There is still a whole season ahead.
