Bishop McDevitt High School’s Nazir Burnett de-committed from Syracuse on Monday night. The three-star Class of 2019 receiver announced his decision on Twitter, calling it one of the toughest he‚Äôs ever made.

The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native committed to the Orange back on Aug. 3, but an impressive senior season for the Royal Lancers is likely what has him reconsidering.
Having already notched career highs in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns, Burnett’s stock is probably rising, which wouldn’t make it crazy for him to gauge the playing field while he still can.
He’s already been offered scholarships from a number of other programs, including Michigan State, Pitt and Boston College. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Burnett’s list is a bit longer this time around.
One thing Burnett didn’t do was rule out a re-commitment to SU. It’s possible that some top-tier programs have recently come knocking, but the Orange certainly has this season to use as a selling point to the young wide-out.
Burnett is the No. 136-ranked receiver in the Class of 2019, according to ESPN, and the second player to de-commit from Syracuse this season.
The Orange is now left with 10 players set to join next season:
Geoff Cantin – OLB, Quebec City, QC
Courtney Jackson – WR, Monroeville, PA
Matthew Bergeron – OT, Quebec City, QC
Joe Rondi – DT, Wayne Hills, NJ
Anthony Red – OG, Oakdale, CT
Luke Benson – TE, Doylestown, PA
Garrett Williams – DB, Harrisburg, NC
Adrian Cole – DB, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Dorian Hewett – S, Houston, TX
Ishmael Goulbourne – DE, Palm Beach Gardens, FL
There’s still plenty of time for more shakeups, with National Signing Day on Feb. 9, 2019.
