Three-Star Lineman Commits to Syracuse

On a day when Syracuse hosted an on-campus football camp, the program picked up a big 2019 commitment from one of the attendees. Offensive lineman Anthony Red has verbally committed to the Orange, making him the first in his class at his position and the third overall.

Red, from St. Thomas More High School in Bloomfield, CT, is rated by 247Sports as a three-star prospect and the 47th best guard in his class. The 6-foot-4 lineman played defensive line during his first two years of high school, followed by offensive line his junior year. Even though he’s ranked by many recruiting services as a guard, Red has the size that could make him a dangerous tackle at the next level. Aside from Syracuse, Red had offers from Buffalo, Temple, and UMass.

After Sunday’s camp, Red felt he was ready to announce his commitment to Dino Babers’ program. Once he consulted his¬†family, Red informed the Syracuse coaching staff that he was ready to commit, according to 247Sports.

The Connecticut native becomes the second 2019 recruit to commit to Syracuse in the past week after defensive lineman Joe Rondi did the same last Wednesday. Red and Rondi join slot receiver Courtney Jackson as the only three Syracuse commits in the class of 2019.
