Syracuse lands in-state target Jayden Mann

Recent recruiting wins for Fran Brown and Syracuse Football have come from across the region and across the country. But Thursday the Orange picked up another 2025 recruit, this time from in the confines of New York state.

Jayden Mann, a 6-4, 285 offensive tackle from the Bronx, committed to Syracuse last week. A 247sports composite three-star ranked as the 5th-best 2025 in New York, Mann becomes the 28th player to commit to Syracuse in the 2025 class.

The Orange beat out a variety of power conference schools for Mann. His other finalists were fellow ACC school Georgia Tech, Big Ten school Rutgers and West Virginia from the Big 12.

When it came down to making the big choice, Mann told 247sports that proximity to his hometown was a big factor.

“I just felt like Syracuse was at home, New York, staying at home,” Mann said to 247sports. He was down to Georgia Tech and Syracuse for his final pick.

So what makes Mann a good fit for the Orange. A look at his junior film from Cardinal Hayes shows one huge advantage – his size. While he’ll obviously face bigger competition at the Division One level, Mann’s physicality with a 6-4, 285 frame has been dominant at the prep level.

With Cardinal Hayes, he mainly played as a right tackle this past year, so it’s safe to assume that may be a top choice for Mann at SU. In his film, Mann always initiates early contact at the line of scrimmage, but also wasn’t scared to go upfield for big-time blocks.

There’s a chance he’ll be entering a crowded right tackle room. SU’s top two RTs this year are Da’Metrius Weatherspoon from Howard and David Wohlabaugh Jr., who missed most of last year with injury. Both are only just redshirt juniors.

Mann joins Syklar Harvey, Byron Washington, and Kardiear Shepherd as 2025 OT commits, with Mann the highest rated by 247sports.

In total, Mann is the 28th commit for SU in the 2025 commit, which is currently made up entirely of three-stars.

Mann has been a quality prep player in NYC and could be a big-time presence on the line upstate in Syracuse in a couple of seasons.
