When Syracuse hosts Clemson next week three Oak Ridge high school (FL) football players will be in attendance for their official visits. Linebacker Jonathan Jones, defensive back Cycoby Burch and wide receiver Tyrek Tisdale are heading up to Syracuse Saturday.
Jones talked with the Fizz earlier this week and says the Orange definitely has a chance to land his signature on National Signing Day despite the fact that he has offers from some of the best schools in the nation.
“I like the coaching staff at Syracuse. I really like the north also. I feel like [Syracuse] is going skyward, they’re going good places.”
Jones says getting on the field early is the major selling point he’s gotten from the Syracuse coaching staff.
“One thing I really believe is that I’ll be able to get there and I’ll be able to play as soon as possible, I’ll be able to play early. Also, it’s a good school. They’ve got a good education and that’s the number one thing for me.”
Jones has mainly been recruited by tight ends coach Jake Moreland and says that he has a solid relationship with the coach.
“I was actually on the phone talking with him last night about what I want to study and a major…it’s a great relationship.”
Scott Shafer has also had phone discussions with Jones.
“I’ve talked to him a couple of times already and he seems like a great guy. We had a nice little conversation talking about where he thinks the program will be in a couple years and where he thinks I’ll fit in.”
