Both the Syracuse football and basketball coaching staffs have been hard at work recruiting. Here are three stories of note heading into the week.
SU Football Not Done In 2016 Class
After the commitment from quarterback Mo Hasan (more on that later) there shouldn’t be any more additions to Syracuse’s 2016 recruiting class from the high school ranks. SU’s staff is still looking for talent to join next year’s team though.
Defensive coordinator Brian Ward has been scouting the junior college ranks in search of some defensive line depth.
Ward was in Kansas last week visiting Independence Community College. He met with ICC defensive lineman Dante Hibbert. Syracuse wants to sign another defensive lineman by the end of May according to Hibbert.
Ward also met with ICC cornerback Jaylon Lane.
The Orange Adds Another 2016 QB
Dillard (FL) high school’s Anthony “Mo” Hasan committed to Syracuse Saturday as a preferred walk on.
Hasan is set to receive a partial academic scholarship in his first year at SU and from there he will try to earn an athletic scholarship, per Syracuse.com.
The Florida native was high school teammates with January enrollee Kenneth Ruff and 2016 SU signee McKinley Williams.
Syracuse Is Hosting Three 2017 Basketball Targets This Weekend
Hamidou Diallo, Quade Green and Jordan Tucker are all visiting SU this weekend. 2016 signee Matthew Moyer will be joining the three recruits.
Back in February Moyer told the Fizz, “I’ve already been going hard [recruiting] Quade Green. We are really high on him as well as Hamidou [Diallo], I’m just starting to go after him…Myself and Tyus [Battle] know the importance of getting those guys coming in 2017.”
We’ll see just how big of an influence Moyer has on the high school juniors.
