Alex Palczewski, a three-star offensive lineman out of Mount Prospect, IL, will make his decision at some point in the next few days, per Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey.
Palczewski has had an offer from SU since early December, and last week took an official visit to the Syracuse campus. The Syracuse stop was sandwiched in the middle of trips to Vanderbilt and Illinois, which are the other two schools Palczewski is considering. He told Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey he would make his decision in the middle of this week after his visit to Illinois over last weekend. The in-state Illini are the favorites to land the offensive lineman.
Palczewski stands at 6-6 and 260 pounds and is rated three stars by 247Sports’ composite rankings and Scout.com. He is the No. 114 offensive lineman in the class of 2017.¬† If he chose the Orange, he would be the highest rated of three commitments Syracuse has on the offensive line. Dakota Davis is ranked at three stars, while Candian Patrick Davis is unranked.
Syracuse has stoked up on linemen in the last few recruiting cycles, but the situation in the trenches is still unknown as the offseason moves on. The Orange is already losing key linemen Jason Emerich and Omari Palmer, and very few of the players left have much on-field experience. There are definitely starting spots to be won on this offensive line. If Palczewski can show Dino Babers he’s able to be an effective blocker while keeping up with the coach’s fast-paced offense, he could see the field sooner than expected. Of course, he has to decide where he’ll go to school before thinking about any of that.
With National Signing day almost a week away, it’s the biggest time of the year for Syracuse football recruiting. Be sure to keep yourself updated by checking OrangeFizz.net and following us on Twitter @OrangeFizz.
