Tiana Mangakahia’s impact on Syracuse was reflected in the immense amount of support she received last year after being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. The #Tough4T campaign combines her number, nickname and personality.
Mangakahia still has a lot of basketball ahead of her, including one more Final Four push in her senior season. That means, Mangakahia might even belong higher on this list. A program best 591 assists in just 65 games (9.1 per game) is more than deserving of the 71st spot. She also averages more points per game (17.1) than any other Orange player in program history.
The primary area for improvement on Mangakahia’s resumé is in the NCAA Tournament. With the Australian point guard at the helm, Syracuse was one-and-done in the 2018 Tournament. The next year, in her junior season, Mangakahia and the Orange defeated Fordham in the first round, only to be handed a second round upset by South Dakota State in the Dome.
Even if SU is destined for another short-lived postseason run in 2020-2021, Mangakahia has already been engraved as one of the best to ever do it on the Hill. But she would be the first one to tell you that her score is not final.
