Firstly, I’d like to apologize to Fizz Nation for the woefully misinformed opinion posted by my colleague, and friend, Dan Papillo earlier today. He claimed that he doesn’t “see a world where Kiyan chooses Syracuse.”
Wow. Just wow.
Now, I’m no recruiting expert. I personally have no informed insight into where Kiyan Anthony, the son of Carmelo Anthony, will go to college. Neither does Dan. So, let’s take a look at where those with inside information think the 6’5″ shooting guard will do.
In On3’s latest prediction, the site gave Anthony, a four-star recruit in the class of 2025, a 93.7% chance to pick Syracuse. Recruiting experts Jamie Shaw and Joe Tipton have concurred with that prediction, both saying SU is Kiyan Anthony’s expected landing spot.
Shaw is so confident that he labeled his prediction with 60% confidence. While that doesn’t sound too high, that ties his highest mark of the 2025 cycle. By the way, Shaw has hit 98.81% of his predictions in this class and 87.71% of his predictions all time.
How about the any other factors? Well, it’s telling that the choice between Syracuse and USC will be made on Carmelo Anthony’s “7 PM in Brooklyn” podcast. Choosing on-air in front of his dad, one of THE legends in ‘Cuse history, doesn’t make SU a guarantee. However, it would be a lot more awkward to pick the Trojans than the Orange.
At the end of the day, very few people actually know where Kiyan Anthony will play college basketball. Beyond his inner-circle, though, the experts have all agreed: he’s likely going to Syracuse. So, saying you don’t “see a world where Kiyan chooses Syracuse” makes no sense. None.
