It’s January 31st and National Signing Day is only four days away. Syracuse went one-for-two this week with recruits. Defensive tackle Steven Clark chose the Orange and safety Najee Clayton picked Rutgers. SU now has 24 commits in its 2015 class; where does the team go from here?
Doyle Grimes: The Florida linebacker decommitted from Marshall on January 26th. He decommitted from Syracuse last fall as well, but now he’s interested once again. Grimes took an official visit to the Hill in early December and tweeted that he was glad to spend time with his former high school teammate, SU corner Antwan Cordy. The linebacker plans to make his final decision on national Signing Day and Syracuse is definitely in the mix.
Nate Howard is another player on Syracuse’s radar. He too is a Wisconsin defensive end commit and visited SU with Picard two weeks ago. Howard’s collegiate decision also affects the offer status of Carter.
Finally, Syracuse is trying to change Georgia safety Kielan Whitner’s mind about Appalachian State. He has been committed there since October, but the Orange is trying to get him to flip because of the lack of defensive backs in the program. The upped interested in Whitner is a direct result of Clayton choosing Rutgers.

Update:  Both Kenny Carter and Jake Pickard committed to the Orange, Friday.
