Now that the offseason is upon us, it’s time to start looking ahead to the talent Syracuse will have in Year 3 under Dino Babers. Syracuse has been targeting what it hopes are potential stars in recruiting over the past year¬†and, in a just few weeks they may become Orange, since players are now able to commit as early as late December.
Many of them have expressed an interest in joining SU as soon as possible, and the Orange have grabbed some significant verbals. The one player in particular recruiting experts are talking about is the talented Tyrone Sampson, one of the hottest young prospects SU has grabbed in years.
Sampson committed to Orange football back in April and he has continued to show his desire to join the family. He even posted a tweet recently after his last official visit, stating that he will be enrolling after the first semester of his senior year.
The four-star center is coming from the East English Village Preparatory Academy in Detroit. He has met with the coaching staff including Babers and has even spent time with SU players after their 41-17 victory over the Central Michigan Chippewas.
Orange football could sure use a center like Tyson after struggling in the early stages of this season. Even bookmakers have reported a decline in betting activity focused on the team after such a dismal start. However, some loyal supporters are probably looking to a tipping site such as Oddschecker, where they can take advantage of some free bet promotions to minimize their risk. Hopefully with new additions like Sampson though, the team will be able to reach a bowl game for the first time in years.
Even though it’s a little scary for a true freshman offensive lineman to start from Day One in a Power-5 conference, the SU staff would like him to come in and compete for a starting spot as soon as possible. His familiarity with inside and outside zone schemes will be a massive advantage for the player while adapting to life on campus.
If Syracuse can lock in Sampson’s signature, it will be one of the biggest recruitments in recent history. Hopefully, they get their new star in the making and he shines for them on the gridiron for years to come.
