Marlowe Wax Kicks Off Syracuse Football All-Star Participation

Marlowe Wax gave Syracuse football a great start to the program’s participation in college football all-star games this offseason.

On Saturday, the Hula Bowl, the first all-star game for college football players, was held down in Orlando, Florida. The Orange linebacker was a late invite to the bowl, but when he got there, he took full advantage of the opportunity. Wax notched an interception on Hunter Dekkers, the quarterback for Iowa Western Community College this past season.

Marlowe Wax is not currently included in many major mock drafts, so anything that can get his name in the mix should help. At the very least, the linebacker seems to be in a good position to sign with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent.

Beyond Wax, there are six other Syracuse players set to play in all-star games soon. Quarterback Kyle McCord, tight end Oronde Gadsden II, running back LeQuint Allen Jr., safety Alijah Clark, and defensive end Fadil Diggs have been set to play in the East-West Shrine game for quite a while now. Earlier today, wide receiver Jackson Meeks also accepted an invite. That game will be played on January 30th.

Lastly, Allen earned an invite to another all-star game, the Senior Bowl, which is seen as the top all-star game for draft eligible players. That will take place on February 1st.

If all goes well, Syracuse is in position to make history. In the current format of seven rounds in the NFL Draft, the program record is five draftees, set back in 1998. If all of the Orange’s prospects get selected, it would be a historic start to the Fran Brown era.
