Syracuse Keeps Winning While Belichick’s UNC Sits Dead Last

Fran Brown is on an absolute recruiting heater.

Just days after Syracuse fans were buzzing about the Orange’s positioning with New York’s top recruit and celebrating the commitment of speedster Chanin Harris, Syracuse added another significant piece to the 2027 class: Nico Ramos.

On paper, Ramos is a three-star offensive lineman.

In reality?

He’s a 6-foot-5, 320-pound mountain of a prospect from one of the premier high school football programs in America.

Ramos plays at American Heritage School, a Florida powerhouse that just won its second consecutive state championship while navigating one of the toughest schedules in the country.

Syracuse isn’t simply adding size.

It’s adding a player who has been developed in one of the nation’s most talent-rich environments.

There was a time when a 6-5, 320-pound high school offensive lineman would immediately jump onto every national recruiting list in America. Those are SEC dimensions. NFL dimensions.

The Orange beat legitimate competition to land him, including Mississippi State Bulldogs football, Virginia Tech Hokies football, and North Carolina Tar Heels football.

And this is where this story gets even better.

Because every commitment Syracuse lands over North Carolina feels a little sweeter these days.

Remember all the offseason hype last year surrounding Bill Belichick? The greatest NFL coach of all time. The “33rd NFL Team.” The endless headlines.

The recruiting revolution that was supposedly coming to Chapel Hill.

Yet according to 247Sports’ current ACC recruiting rankings?

North Carolina sits dead last.

Dead last.

No five-stars.

No four-stars.

Five three-star commitments.

That’s it.

Meanwhile, Syracuse continues stacking commitments and building momentum.

This isn’t a one-off anymore.

It’s a trend.

Fran Brown has consistently out-recruited expectations since arriving on the Hill, and now the Orange are beating ACC rivals for prospects while building a class with national reach.

South Carolina.

Florida.

New York.

The footprint keeps expanding.

And perhaps the most surprising development of all?

Syracuse isn’t chasing North Carolina anymore.

Right now, Syracuse is passing them.
