Linebacker Commit Kadeem Trotter Talks To The Fizz

The Ohio native chose SU last week.

Four days ago Ohio linebacker Kadeem Trotter committed to Syracuse. Last week on Fizz Radio Trotter joined the program to discuss his recruitment.

On his pre-commitment camp performance at SU

“I think I did alright, but the coaches thought I did really great. I had two picks and a good pro-agility and 40 yard dash. I was very athletic and explosive at the camp as the coaches said.”

On his relationship with the Syracuse staff

“I can relate to the defensive coordinator, Coach Ward. Coach Kaufman is a really nice guy. The other coaches I haven’t really talked to yet. Those two are the coaches I’ve been in touch with most, and I really like those guys.”

On linebackers coach Tom Kaufman

“He’s a great dude. He gave me a good tour. He’s the one that recruited me and that started in April when he came to visit my school, see me work out and do some stuff on the field. SU was my second offer. Akron was my first.”

On being recruited as a linebacker instead of a safety

“I think I perform better at that position than at safety. I’m playing linebacker for my high school. I’m really comfortable there and I think I’m better there. This is great for me.”

On the injury that caused him to miss the majority of his junior season

“It was a torn MCL. I did not need surgery on it, just rehab. It feels great now. I took some time off for rehab, but it’s good now.”
