Monday Recruiting: Florida Boys Ball Out

Five of SU’s six 2017 football commits from Florida played in a high school game over the weekend and every single one of them dominated.

Markenzy Pierre went off in his final high school contest, leading Liberty to a 64-21 thrashing of Poinciana.

Pierre, a running back commit, rushed for 447 yards and seven touchdowns on 27 carries in the victory. Yes, you read that right. 447 yards. Seven touchdowns.

Liberty missed out on the playoffs, but Pierre certainly ended the season on a high. The running back finished his senior year with 2,537 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns.

As if those numbers aren’t incredible enough, Pierre’s coach, Cory Johns, spoke very highly of Pierre after the game to the Orlando Sentinel.

“It’s been 7-8 years since we’ve been at or above .500,” said Johns. “Pierre and Justin Hooks are special players. I coached NFL running backs Karlos Williams and Mike James, and in my mind Markenzy is better at this stage.”

Wow.

In Palm Bay, Florida, BJ Daniels could not quite match Pierre, but still had a fantastic finish to his regular season. The running back had two touchdowns in a 38-0 Palm Bay trouncing of Heritage on Friday.

PB finished the regular season undefeated at 9-0 and hosts a first round playoff game against Eustis this Friday.

Two and a half hours south of Palm Bay, Joshua Palmer’s St. Thomas Aquinas team rolled over Flanagan 45-19 Friday. Palmer finished the game with four catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Aquinas begins their postseason run against Palm Beach Lakes at home this weekend.

In Sarasota, SU tight end commit Aaron Hackett did not play a starring role, but helped Venice finish their regular season undefeated.

Hackett‚Äôs committed to SU as a tight end, but plays mostly on the offensive line in high school. That unit helped Venice running back Matt Laroche finish his team’s¬†42-6 win over Booker with 237 rushing yards.

Finally, to complete the run of Florida domination, Orange linebacker commit Nadarius Fagan’s Southridge team routed Miami 44-0 Friday.
