Syracuse Loses Out on Khalif Battle

In the midst of Tyus Battle’s month-long period to decide if he’s returning to Syracuse next season, his younger brother Khalif made a decision of his own.

Tyus and Khalif’s father, Gary, made the announcement on Friday morning via his twitter page that his son has committed to Butler.

Khalif is a 2019 recruit who had offers from Syracuse, Clemson and Connecticut, among other schools. The idea of the 6-foot-4 guard following in his older brother’s footsteps never picked up that much momentum, but it was certainly an intriguing thought. Kahlif is rated as the 96th best recruit in the class of 2019 by Rivals.

Right now, Brycen Goodine is the only 2019 recruit committed to Syracuse. Of course, it’s way to early to worry about commitments for two seasons from now, but this is another bad break for the Orange.

Thankfully for SU, an offseason full of uncertainty was somewhat stabilized when Oshae Brissett announced that he’s returning for his sophomore season. As far as the 2018 class is concerned, SU is making a late push for forward Robert Braswell.
