Andre Cisco is officially headed to the league! Cisco was selected 65th overall by the Jaguars in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Valley Stream, N.Y. native is the first Orange player taken in this year’s draft. Fellow defensive backs Ifeatu Melifonwu and Trill Williams are still waiting to be selected.

Cisco joins a team in the Jaguars that was the seventh-worst passing defense in the NFL last year and sixth-worst in takeaways per game. He should factor into the Jacksonville DB rotation right away. First year head coach Urban Meyer is right now projected to start Rudy Ford and Andrew Wingard, two career special teams players.

At Syracuse, Cisco was a three-year starter at safety for Dino Babers. He ended his time at SU as the FBS’ active leader in interceptions (13), fourth all-time in the Orange record books tied with Walt Slovenski. Cisco played 24 games, recording 136 tackles, 29 passes defended, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was the first freshman in SU history to garner All-American Honors, and a two-time All-ACC selection. The IMG Academy product was a three-star recruit out of high school.
