Three Burning Questions Heading into the 2021 ACC Kickoff

The ACC Kickoff begins Wednesday morning and rolls through Thursday night. Myself and Matt Bonaparte are on the scene in Charlotte, NC and have you covered throughout the entire event.

The festivities begin with the Coastal Division on Wednesday, followed by the Atlantic on Thursday which means SU won‚Äôt speak until the latter half of the two day event.

With that said here are three burning questions that SU fans should want to be answered going into and heading out of the ACC Kickoff.

  1. Why is Tommy DeVito not at the event itself?

Syracuse is the only ACC team not to bring a quarterback to the event as one of its three featured speakers. Typically the three representatives have the fast track to the role of captain. That doesn’t always mean the attendees will end up being the leaders, but more often than not it does. DeVito not being there could just be a coincidence, or it could mean there’s still a legit quarterback battle playing out in the 315.

  1. Will Lee Kpogba suit up for the ‚ÄòCuse this season?

The highest rated recruit in SU’s 2019 class, one that featured Mikel Jones and Garrett Williams has still yet to make his impact felt as an Orange. Earlier this offseason, the linebacker was reportedly suspended indefinitely from the team. No word has been given on the status of his enrollment and spot on the squad. Interestingly enough, Kpogba was listed on the 2021 spring roster that was released a few months ago after the suspension. There have been rumblings that the defender may elect to transfer, potentially to East Mississippi Community College.

  1. How is the o-line progressing under new coach Mike Schmidt?

The SU offensive line has been sub-par we’ll say the past few years and really for the entirety of Babers’ reign in Syracuse. However, SU hired a good one in Schmidt who comes from San Diego State. He fostered some excellent front fives with the Aztecs. Is the same process taking shape in the Salt City?
