Hear me out. This upcoming season could be great for a mixed group of returning and new players into a program fresh off of a cinderella NCAA tournament run.
2021 Questions:
- How good is Benny Williams?
- Which version of Joe Girard will show up?
- How will the Boeheims gel?
- Can SU survive with a thin/unexperienced frontcourt?
All those questions will flush themselves out when the beginning of 2022 rolls around. That includes figuring out who will stay, transfer or declare for the draft.
Turning gears to 2022, there’s a lot of anticipation for the new recruits, and the many who have yet to commit, but still linger on SU’s radar. No one even knows if Jim Boeheim will continue to inch toward 50 years at the helm of the Orange.
2022 Questions:
- How good will Lands and Taylor be?
- Who else is on the way to CNY?
- Will Benny Williams stay? Joe Girard?
- Jim Boeheim or someone else?
Now, it’s time to look way down the line to 2023. Syracuse is already taking a look into the future high school junior class and it’s time to highlight these players. Why? Reclassification is always a possibility, just as top recruit Emoni Bates is doing and fellow top recruit Jalen Duran is considering.
It also sets a framework for what to expect from SU in the recruiting scene. So, here are the Orange’s current offers to 2023 players:
PG Aden Holloway – athletic and shifty guard playing at a high level prep school, La Lumiere (where Lands attends).
SG Elijah Fisher – A whole lot of bounce on this five-star. 247Sports ranks him as the best player at his position in all of Canada!
SG Blue Cain – An all-around guard that proves himself through his play.
SF Matas Buzleis – Uses all 6’8″ of his frame + guard-like skills.
PF G.G. Jackson – A true 6’8″, 210-pound with power and zero fear attacking the rim.
