Is CBG Good for Kidneys?

For those who don’t know, CBG or Cannabigerol is a naturally occurring plant compound known as cannabinoid. Amid the popularity and demand of the well-known cannabinoid CBD, CBG remains a less talked about or widely used compound.

It’s often called the mother of all cannabinoids. Why? Because, CBD and THC, the two major cannabinoids form when CBGA, the acidic form of cannabigerol breaks down when a cannabis plant grows and matures over time.

In recent years, CBG has slowly become the talk of the town for its potential in the treatment of potential chronic Kidney disease. CBG oils and tinctures are available in almost all major CBD brand stores and sites.

It turns out, just like CBD, CBG also has anti-inflammatory and pain-curbing effects which can provide relief to patients suffering from certain kidney diseases. Today we’ll look at this topic in-depth and try to understand why and how CBG is good for your Kidneys.

Is CBG Good for Kidneys

What is Chronic Kidney Disease?

CKD, or chronic kidney disease is a health condition in which an affected person’s kidney function deteriorates over time and collapses. In the USA alone, around 35 million people are affected by CKD, and the majority of them don’t even know they have it until it’s too late.

As per data from the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in every 7 adults is at risk of CKD, and 9 out of every 10 affected individuals don’t know they have it. This ignorance happens because symptoms of CKD are not easy to spot and build up over time.

Kidneys are essential for processing the waste and fluids in our body, and when they function properly, this filtration process gets severely affected. This leads to a rise in the amount of toxins, which may lead to kidney failure and also damage other internal organs.

How can CBG help with Kidney Disease?

So how does CBG help with CKD? Well, CBG has its own unique set of healing and therapeutic effects. A recent study found that CBG can keep kidneys safe from cisplatin nephrotoxicity. What’s that? It’s a severe side effect of a common chemotherapy medicine called cisplatin.

Depending on the dose, Cisplatin can lead to the development of chronic kidney disease. This drug aggregates certain signaling pathways, which can lead to inflammation and death of tubular cells.

It can also damage the DNA and cause severe oxidative stress. CBG protects from this condition by suppressing the inflammation-causing proteins called cytokines. CBG also helps with renal fibrosis in UUO kidneys. Hence, CBG is a better cannabinoid than CBD for kidney health because of its dual ability to keep inflammation and renal fibrosis under control.

Despite being THC’s mother, CBG doesn’t have any intoxicating effects, and there’s also no risk of overdosing with it. This makes CBG oil easy to store, especially with kids at home. Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress are the major culprits behind health degradation in individuals who are suffering from chronic kidney diseases. Hence, CBG is good for kidneys, because it has both ani oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.

Is CBG all I need to protect my Kidneys?

No, you can not solely rely on CBG for your kidney health. If your condition is severe, then it’s best to go for popper medical treatment and use CBG as a supportive aid. It generally does not interfere with other medicines, and it’s necessary to take it regularly for the best effects.

Your diet and hydration are also crucial for maintaining kidney health. Hence, you should increase your daily water intake and add anti-inflammatory foods like tomatoes, leafy green veggies, olive oil, and almonds to your eating regime.

Simple exercises like brisk walks or yoga sessions will also help. So in short, good kidney health = plenty of water + anti-inflammatory food + CBG oil + regular exercise.

What else Can CBG help with?

It might not be easy to convince someone to use CBG just because it will keep their kidney healthy, especially those who are already-fit and fine. But, there’s more to it. Studies done on people who use CBG noted that people mainly use it for treating or managing anxiety and depression symptoms. Also, participants said that CBG is much better than traditional or commonly used medications for these conditions. In the same study, 77% of participants said that CBG helps them with chronic pain management.

In another review, it was observed that cannabinoids like CBG are popular among people who have appetite issues due to Inflammatory bowel diseases. Other than pain, inflammation, and anxiety, CBG is also effective in the treatment of eye pressure conditions (glaucoma).

It may also help in the treatment of neurological conditions like Huntington’s disease because of its positive impact on cell viability and protective effects on N2a Cells. Another recent review found that CBG can reduce the growth and spread of cells that are responsible for causing breast cancer.

Our Final Thoughts

To sum it up, Yes, CBG is good for kidneys. It has both ani oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects which can help prevent and treat acute kidney diseases. CBG can also help with stress, anxiety, depression, appetite, breast cancer, and bacterial infections.
Just make sure to start with a low dose, and observe the effects over time before tinkering with the dosage. Finally, if you are convinced to order CBG oil, try to get it only from reputed and well-tested brands like Colorado Botanicals.
