Meet Syracuse’s Class of ’12: DL Josh Manley – Says No to Late Mizzou Visit

Josh Manley’s letter of intent has been signed, sealed, and delivered to Syracuse University, ending one of the more chaotic recruiting plots of the season. The defensive lineman had a wealth of big-time offers from schools like Boston College, Wake Forest, N.C. State, and Louisville.

His top schools changed frequently, up until he visited SU a few weeks ago and committed to play for Doug Marrone. Even after that, Missouri came in with a late offer. Manley told The Fizz he intended to visit Louisville and Missouri at the last minute, just to make sure Syracuse was the right choice for him.

Syracuse had lost another impact player, Harold Brantley, to a late Mizzou push. But Manley surprisingly balked on taking the last-minute visits, affirming his commitment to Syracuse. He describes how things played out over the last couple weeks.

“I wanted to take the visits because my cousin went through some bad stuff during his recruiting process a couple years ago. I didn’t want to do that, I wanted to make sure (I made the right choice). I stuck with Syracuse because they were constant with me, it was never on and off. All the coaches kept it real with me no matter what. I never lost contact with them and ultimately when I visited Syraucse I didn’t want to leave.”
