FizzCast: Doug Marrone One-on-One

Listen to the Fizz-clusive with Doug Marrone.

D.A. got to sit down with the Orange head coach at Big East media day. Year 1 vs. Year 2?

“We’re much further along. We’ve won a lot of battles and now we need to get some of those wins on the field.”

The speculation on him leaving for a different job in the offseason?

“It’s part of what happens. You wanna protect the other schools involved as well. Just as I said publicly, ‘if there’s speculation of me going anywhere obviously I’ve done a good job with my message.'”

Has there been a day over the first 18 months where you look around and think, ‘boy this is tougher than I thought?’

“Every day is tough. I’m looking forward to getting this thing turned around and looking at this time with gratification.”

Is there a specific goal you’ve laid out for your team?

“Our goal as a football team is to go to a bowl game. Which one it is, doesn’t matter. We just need to get to a bowl game”

Delone Carter’s future?

“Right now, he’s not an enrolled student. There’s a judicial process in place and that’s between the university and Delone Carter.”

The Fizz is owned, edited and operated by Damon Amendolara. D.A. is an ’01 Syracuse graduate from the Newhouse School with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
