Elite RB Ameen-Moore to Fizz: “Happy” Collier Left, Drawn to SU

ESPN Rise

The Fizz spoke with ‘Cuse recruit Adonis Ameen-Moore from Mullen Prep in Denver today, who had nothing but things to say about Doug Marrone’s team.

“Still liking the Orange,” the workhorse back said during a break in class today. “Like Syracuse a lot.”

Listen to The FizzCast with Ameen-Moore on Collier Leaving:

With the departure of Averin Collier from the ‘Cuse, the big question has become who is the big back next year. With the former prized ROC star out, Ameen-Moore, is being seen more and more as a must-get for the 2011 recruiting class.

Jerome Smith hasn’t played a down for the ‘Cuse, and Antwon Bailey, while an admirable performer, will need a changeup back to pound it up the middle.

It turns out Ameen-Moore, who’s former teammate Jonny Miller plays for SU, follows the team closely. He says he has a cousin from the area who keeps him up-to-date on everything Orange. So what does he think of Collier’s departure?

“Yes, of course, it’s gonna draw me to it,” Ameen-Moore said of the carries vacated by Collier’s absence.“[I’m] sad to see him go, but happy he did leave.”

Ameen-Moore made it clear that his decision isn’t speeding up because of Collier, and he hasn’t eliminated any schools that have given him offers yet.

The end of the Collier (non?)era may have opened a new door for the Orange in the recruiting department. Look for a FizzCast with Ameen-Moore by day’s end.
