Meet Syracuse’s Class of ’12: Alvin Cornelius – NYC’s Three Amigos Complete

Syracuse is defense heavy for the ’12 recruiting class, but one playmaker SU inked up is Tottenville High School’s Alvin Cornelius. He’s one of only two WRs brought in this year by SU (Ben Lewis). During the summer months, Cornelius was on The Fizz’s top 5 impact players¬†coming to Syracuse next season. Plenty has changed for the Orange since then, but the NYC product is still a talent and says his greatest strength is his hands.

During his junior season at Tottenville, Alvin built a mini-rivalry with current Orange DB Brandon Reddish.¬†BR¬†played WR for Fort Hamilton, and both were considered the top receivers in the PSAL in New York. Reddish also matched up as a corner on Cornelius when both teams met. As for AC’s senior season,¬†Wayne Morgan’s Erasmus Hall¬†squad knocked Cornelius’ team out of the playoffs in the state semi-finals. But now all three talent New York players will join forces and Alvin loves the idea of playing with Morgan and Reddish.

“You know during high school you get to use your talent and compete against other kids, but now we are going to work together and maybe make something happen for the city.”

The Fizz has been stressing the need for Marrone to keep New York talent in-state.¬†With Morgan and Cornelius coming to the Hill, and Reddish already here, the “Dougie” is definitely going in the right direction.
