This past weeks has been an absolute frenzy in Syracuse recruiting, as Robert Washington’s decision looms large.   While the Washington madness continues and the restore-44 campaign picks up momentum, Syracuse is going about business as usual, making an offer to 2016 Defensive Tackle Christian Colon.
Colon announced via Twitter on Wednesday night that he has officially received an offer from the Orange. He stands 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds and plays a position that the Orange are certainly going to look to bolster especially after the news that defensive linemen Isaiah Johnson has been medically disqualified.
There is a strong class of defensive linemen coming in for 2015 and the Orange are sure to look to back that up with a strong class in 2016.
Then of course, there is something about Colon that ties him to the only thing everyone is talking about this week. He played with Robert Washington in 8th grade and their freshmen year at SouthLake Christian Academy in Huntersville, N.C.
This may be a small link as they haven’t played together in two years but it is something that Syracuse fans are sure to hold onto. Any little thing that could put Washington over the edge and bring him to Central New York is something the Orange should definitely pursue.
However, Colon is a legitimate recruit in his own right. He has received offers from a few top programs. According to 247Sports, he has offers from Penn State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, North Carolina, UCLA and Mississippi State.
While everyone in Orange Nation will be waiting for Saturday to learn of Robert Washington’s decision, it is important to keep an eye on other 2016 targets including Christian Colon.
