WR Frank Darby Says Syracuse is At The Top of His List

What did he have to say about his time on the Hill?

He isn’t making any headlines on the major recruiting sites, but New Jersey WR Frank Darby has gotten the attention of Scott Shafer and the SU recruiting team. Darby visited campus yesterday, and according to an article on Syracuse.com he was impressed with what he saw.

Darby told Syracuse.com this after his visit:

“They (Syracuse) are one of the top schools or probably the top on my list”

Always good to hear, right? You don’t get to say this about many of the recruits the Orange goes after, but Syracuse might actually be the most reputable school on Darby’s radar. HIs short list consists of Pitt, Iowa, Old Dominion, UMass, Towson and Temple. That’s no SEC schools and no major programs to compete with. Of course Rutgers is always a school to worry about with any New Jersey recruit, but as of right now the Scarlet Knights haven’t given Darby a scholarship offer.

When you’re a mid-level program trying to bring in a higher level of recruits, no player is ever a sure thing. It seems like even a commitment means nothing, and you can’t really be sure a guy is coming to your school until he signs on the dotted line. But with Darby, Syracuse¬†appears to be a solid frontrunner. You need to have a few solid commitments to lean on¬†if all else fails (and to keep these recruiters sane when players start decommiting), and Darby could be one of those players. According to Syracuse.com Darby plans to make a decision in August, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
