A Chance for SU to End a Losing Streak

This is the week. It feels like there is a real chance the Orange could end this losing streak and pick up win number 4 on the season. This comes when Scott Shafer and SU head down to Louisville Saturday.

Look, the Cardinals came into the year with some legitimate aspirations to be a player in the national picture. To say that hasn’t happened is an understatement. This is not the team that was ranked coming into the year. The Cardinals are 4-4, and they have had their share of quarterback issues this year, jumping back and forth between Reggie Bonnafon and Lamar Jackson, but now Jackson seems to have settled into the QB role the last 5 games, and with the stability, the Cardinals have won 4 of those games losing only to Florida State.

But it isn’t like Louisville is blowing teams out, the only beat Wake by one last week, and that was more on the shoulders of the UL defense that forced 5 turnovers. The week before that, they beat BC by 3, but didn’t score in the second half.

Basically, this team is winning, 4 of its last 5, but is winning very ugly and can be beat with a good performance. And Syracuse could really use the win. The Orange has lost 5 straight, and after starting 3-0 for the first time since 1990, all the positive momentum the team had gained.

Now the Orange needs another win. Ending the year on a 9-game losing streak would be a really tough pill to swallow for the team, athletic department and community. This is one of just a few more chances on the schedule for the Orange to actually pick up a win, especially with number 1 Clemson coming to the Dome next weekend.

This is a game that is there for the Orange to win if they play well. Now, the team just has to go do it. Something that we don’t know they can do. We haven’t seen that the Orange can put together a performance against a decent ACC team so far this season. Louisville this year is very middle of the road, and very beatable, now the Orange needs to beat the Cardinals.
