The Syracuse football coaching staff has gone on an offering spree with the recruiting dead period ending earlier this week. The Fizz talked with some of the players who have received SU offers to gauge their interest in the Orange.
Andrew Armstrong, Ohio LB
Armstrong visited Syracuse this past weekend and called it “amazing.” He went on to say that he, “might visit other schools just to be able to compare and make sure that [SU] is the place for [him].” Armstrong decommitted from Bowling Green once Dino Babers and his staff left.
DeVaughn Cooper, California WR
Although he’s committed to the University of Arizona, Cooper visited Syracuse this past weekend and said it was great. He was joined by his high school teammates Sean Riley (who committed to SU yesterday) and Cedric Byrd. Byrd does not yet have a Syracuse offer, but said his visit was also great and that he loved it.
Joshua Black, Illinois DE
SU’s coaching staff had an in-home visit with Black, an Illinois commit, earlier this week. The defensive end said that the visit, “went really well,” and that, “[he learned] a lot about how he would fit into the defensive scheme.” Black will visit SU the weekend of 1/22. He said he’s excited to come to campus and will know more about his feelings toward SU afterwards.
Marquis Smith, Michigan CB
Reports have surfaced indicating that Smith will visit Syracuse the weekend of 1/29. He told the Fizz that he does not know for sure if he will be coming that weekend. He says he plans to get in touch with SU’s coaches and get the situation sorted out.
