Monday Recruiting: Watch Russell Thompson-Bishop Make Stellar TD Grab

It’s been a great weekend for Syracuse Football. SU defeated UConn on the road 31-24 on Saturday to move to 2-2 on the season. Several Orange football commits were also in action putting up impressive displays of their own.

In Connecticut, SU receiver commit Russell Thompson-Bishop hauled in a beautiful 24-yard touchdown pass Friday night.

Watch the reception here (it’s at the 49-second mark).

That catch helped lead his Bloomfield team to a 50-42 overtime victory against Rocky Hill.

Tommy DeVito found out he’d be playing in the Under Armour All-America Game on Wednesday. On Friday night, his week got even better.

The Syracuse quarterback commit helped Don Bosco (NJ) record it its first win of the season beating DePaul 35-21.

DeVito completed 20-of-29 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

After a dominating seven touchdown performance last week, Fayetteville-Manlius running back Eric Coley finished Friday’s 59-39 demolition of Henninger with another eye-popping stat-line.

Coley rushed for five touchdowns in this game on runs of 48, 62, 38, 72, and 56 yards. Wow.

He ended the night with 405 rushing yards on 26 carries. Coley has certainly taken Central New York by storm since moving from Michigan last year.

In Massachusetts, Orange commit Ifeatu Melifonwu rushed for 185 yards and two scores, leading his Grafton team to a 48-8 win over Oakwood on Friday.

After the game, Oakwood coach Charlie Raff praised Melifonwu, while speaking to the Worcester Telegram.

“He’s one of the most special ones you’re ever going to see,” Raff said. “That’s one of the best football players I’ve ever seen. That kid makes you miss.‚Äù

Finally, the latest SU commit, Baltimore defensive end Jonathan Kingsley, was also victorious this weekend. His St. Frances Academy team beat Bishop Sullivan 28-21.
